Verrichtung erster Ordnung
Verrichtung erster Ordnung is a device of the first order, a machine designed to imagine other machines and then facilitate their construction. The device breaks down and recombines ideas - memes - in the noosphere, using complex polydimensional algorithms. The focus of this dissolution and coagulation is the invention of new, helpful, and interesting concept-machines in their infant form: memeseeds. Once the device has created a promising memeseed, it is immersed in a self-contained pocket universe, where the device grows it at an accelerated rate using higher-order chronomechanics. As these pocket universes contain full three-dimensional time, the device is able to monitor not just the actual evolution of a memeseed, but also the plurality of all evolutions possible within that given universe. Since an idea will develop and be expressed in different ways depending on the context surrounding and impacting it, both 'locally' via neighboring ideas within the given universe and as determined by the protocosmic gestalts governing the whole of that universe, the device seeds ideas widely across disparate settings, so the true nature of the emergent idea can be contemplated through the different forms through which it expresses itself.
The N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Machine
The N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Machine is a zero-point energy collector, designed to harness ideational energy given off during translation between realities. First, using an Ahklo-Jadoul Torus as a starter, the device rotates an extremely small volume of ideaspace into a reality adjacent in three-dimensional time - a reality where this volume exists in a slightly lower-energy state. The Machine stores the energy released when the volume of ideaspace transitions to this lower-energy state, and then uses this energy, combined with another burst of power from the Ahklo-Jadoul Torus, to 'skip' the volume from its lower-energy state, 'over' its starting state, and into a higher-energy state than that in which it began. The Machine then repeats this process, dropping the volume of ideaspace into increasingly lower-energy states (up to a point - there is a cutoff past which the energy gain becomes neglible) and then 'skipping' it back up, harvesting the energy given off in both operations. Additionally, the Machine is continuously everting the volume of ideaspace through itself, and collects the energy given off by concepts reconciling with their own opposites. The high-frequency multidirectional movement of this small volume of ideaspace creates a strobing effect within the Machine's containment chamber as it comes up to speed, until the volume of ideaspace seems to become solid due to translating so quickly through a section of its superposition.
The N.O.T.H.I.N.G. Machine can be used to power any number of other technologies, as well as being a tool for examining concepts accelerated to a point that renders whole sections of their superposition capable of being experienced at once.
